Mission

Our mission is to establish a productive and innovative research program while promoting a positive and inclusive work environment:

As fellow scientists, we seek to advance our overall understanding of host–microbe interactions and contribute to the greater good of human health through work that is rigorous, cutting-edge, and collaborative. We hold our work to a high standard that is achieved through open discussion, accountability, mentorship, safe work practices, and shared knowledge. We value that the quality of our research is built upon foundations of scientific and moral integrity, professionalism, respect, diversity, and equity.

As scientists working within the Yale community and within the field at large, we actively cultivate a culture of inclusion. These group values are manifested in how we listen to and support colleagues, prioritize mentorship, and foster dialogue on matters of science and society.

As members of the New Haven community, we are committed to inspiring local students to pursue science and providing them a clear path to success. As members of our broader community, we aim to be stewards of scientific knowledge through effective communication, valuing data-driven research, and making science accessible to all. We also recognize that speaking out against injustice is a responsibility that is shared by all group members and a commitment we must actively pursue.
